The news is the communication on the of information on current events which is presented by print, broadcast, Internet, or word of mouth to a third party or mass audience.

History of news reporting

In its infancy, news gathering was primitive by today's standards. Printed news had to be phoned in to a newsroom or brought there by a reporter, where it was typed and either transmitted over wire services or edited and manually set in type along with other news stories for a specific edition. Today, the term "breaking news" has become trite as broadcast and cable news services use live satellite technology to bring current events into consumers' homes live as they happen. Events that used to take hours or days to become common knowledge in towns or in nations are fed instantaneously to consumers via radio, television, mobile phone, and the Internet.

What is the difference between a broadcast news analyst and a news reporter?
Q. I've been doing research and it seems that a news analyst finds the news while a broadcast news reporter only reads it. is that true?

A. An analyst gives his or her opinions about a major news event. Let's say, GM declares bankruptcy. An analyst would explain why and what should be done next. On the other hand, a broadcast news reporter would say what happened.

How do news networks get contact info for people to interview them?
Q. I ask because I've been scouring the net for info on how to contact William Kostric (The Obama town hall gun carrier from NH. KostNic? CNN said Kostric). I 'd like to talk to the man a little for my nonprofit news org, if he's willing. So how is it that CNN and all these other nets get info to contact regular, everyday citizens?
