Italy /ˈɪtəli/ (help·info) (Italian: Italia), officially the Italian Republic (Italian: Repubblica Italiana), is a country located on the Italian Peninsula in Southern Europe and on the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily and Sardinia. Italy shares its northern, Alpine boundary with France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. The independent states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within the Italian Peninsula, and Campione d'Italia is an Italian exclave in Switzerland. The land known as Italy today has been the cradle of many European cultures and peoples, such as the Etruscans and the Romans, and later was the birthplace of the University, the Renaissance that began in Tuscany and spread all over Europe, Vitruvian Man, modern science and astronomy, heliocentrism and Opera. Italy's capital, Rome, was for centuries the center of Western civilization. Italy possessed a colonial empire from the second half of the nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. Today, Italy is a democratic republic and a developed country with the eighth-highest quality of life index rating in the world. It is a founding member of what is now the European Union, having signed the Treaty of Rome in 1957, and it is a founding member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It is a member of the G8, having the world's seventh-largest nominal GDP, and is also a member state of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Council of Europe, the Western European Union, and the Central European Initiative. Italy is a Schengen state. It has the world's seventh-largest defence budget and shares NATO's nuclear weapons. On 1 January 2007, Italy began a two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by maddy - Sat Jan 17 10:22:39 2009 How important is it to plan out meals on an Italy trip? Q. I am going to Italy in a couple of weeks and have exhausted my time researching hotels, transportation, and site seeing. I haven't had time to research restaurants at all. I am a big fan of good and excellent foods though. Is it absolutely necessary for me to research restaurants and go to those specifically? Or is Italy a pretty safe bet for finding good restaurants around every corner? Asked by Lum - Wed Mar 19 18:12:02 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's a pretty safe bet. When you're at the hotel, just ask where a nice place is, and do you need to reserve in advance. Most Italians eat quite late, so if you go in at 6 or 7 pm, you'll be a little early for the evening rush. 'Trattoria' tend to be family-run places, and are very good. Absolutely try places recommended by locals, they are usually the best. Answered by Orla C - Wed Mar 19 19:46:00 2008 What should I buy in Italy to sell on eBay in the United States?
Q. I am taking a trip to Italy in a couple of weeks, specifically Venice, Florence, Assisi and Rome. I love to sell on eBay here in the United States, and would like to know what I should buy when I'm in Italy that will bring me a good profit when I bring it home and post it on eBay. Any suggestions? Asked by wrightidea5 - Thu Oct 30 09:09:45 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well you should consider that you have to go through customs many luxury goods have to be declared and will be taxed. Also, many airlines are charging based on weight for luggage due to fuel charges! You can avoid customs costs by shipping it to yourself, although i believe you are still supposed to declare and pay them Use terrapeak.com to do detailed ebay marketplace research more complete info at my blog But, there is an ebay italy, so you can do research on their page too. Just click completed listings in advanced search and you will be able to closing costs My suggestion is take photos and leave your business behind, have a good time..i expect that the costs of bringing the items back to the us will exceed your profit margin… [cont.] Answered by sunforged - Sat Nov 1 01:52:11 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Italy" Italy is a country in the south of Europe.
