Can you give me some sites that have investigatory projects for Chemistry?
Q. Our Chemistry teacher said that we have to make an investigatory project about that thing. Thanks for those who answered my question especially to Amlan M. I want to see more sites wherein I can see many Science Fair projects for Chemistry. Thanks a lot! ~_^

What is a good chemistry investigatory project involving chalk?
Q. Must be useful to us and shouldn't be harmful. We're looking for an idea, so if you could give us a title and a little procedure for it, that would be better. And any site that will help us. This is in our Chemistry class and it must be something involving chalk/chalk dust. We're looking for something that involves chalk as something to help or to benefit the community and/or benefit anyone/anything. Something that is not harmful to the environment or to the people. Something that can replace expensive or harmful products and that will not cost alot either. I need it as soon as possible. I would love you to help me with this. Me and my groupmates need it ASAP. We thought of it as an insecticide but are having doubts if it is more effective… [cont.]

What's a good proposal for a science investigatory project (chemistry)?
Q. I'm in third year high school. And our group's project for this semester is a science investigatory project. Since we're in third year, there should be an application of chemistry. What do you suggest is a good one? We want to consider the availability of materials, if it consumes a lot of time, etc. Thanks in advance!

A. A project that undergraduate chemistry students often do is titration of acidic (or basic) commercial products, like orange juice or cola, to quantify how acidic each brand is and compare them. Since vitamin C is an acid, you can use titration to quantify Vitamin C levels. There are a bunch of ideas here, too:

A. Have you learnt electrolysis? If you have, you should know electroplating then. Then maybe you can investigate on how to coat an orchid in gold. What i have in mind is: Normally, people would think of coating an object with a substance, is similar to chocolate coated strawberries. I.E. Melt the substance, and dip the object in the melted substance to get the object coated in the substance. However, for orchid, you cannot dip it in molten gold, as the melting point of gold is 1500 degree centigrade, while the combustion point of orchid is much much lower than 1500 degree centigrade. So, this is where electroplating comes into place. You can consider this as your investigatory project. But I'm not sure if you can say that it's simple. Hope… [cont.]

A. Not sure the level of chemistry where you are, but here are a few projects: 1) Baking soda and moth balls in a vial. The ball will go up and down and up and down. Here is why: 2) Iodine and starch. To verify starch conversino or the presence of starch, use iodine, it will turn when starch is in contact with iodine. Find out where there are starches. Carrot? Potatoes? Apple? Bark?

A. It is a very visible experiment that shows very clearly the results of reacting a acid to a base. This reaction generally makes a salt. There are lots of acid base reactions that you can't visibly see the reaction taking place. In acid base reactions, the acid (vinegar) donates a hydrogen proton to a base (baking soda) which accepts the proton with great fervor But with soda and vinegar you get an ebullition of CO2 bubbles which bubble up and get coated in the baking soda paste and so form almost soap like bubbles and don't break up very easily. So again, it is just an easy and safe acid base reaction that clearly gives a gratifying experience of seeing a reaction taking place. If you taste the baking soda residue afterwards you will… [cont.]

A. A simple , original project is the color of the ions. You add KMnO4 to water : we get a violet solution. To determine if K+ is violet or MnO4- is violet you add KCl to water : we get a color-less solution >> K+ is colour-less and Cl- is colour-less. This means that MnO4- is violet. You can use many colored salts
