Like other Asians, I got interested in Japan and South Korea through their music and shows. I know reality is different from show business, but it just made me want to visit those places. I heard that in East Asia, light skin and big eyes are the definition of beauty, but are Southeast Asians really treated as lower or openly mocked? As a Tokyo person, I can say people treat you really good as long as you act like sophisticated. Just Tokyo people do not like insolent people no matter the nationality even if Japanese. You will have a service, like other Japanese have, not like white people though (because not all but some girls love them a lot, they treat the White like VIP as some extra service) On the other hand, in some industrial area you might have a sort of unhappy treat. In such area, there are many labour foreigners and sometimes there is some friction with Japanese people. Q. I may be losing my job in California as a teacher and I am from Louisiana. I may have a job opportunity in rural southeast Louisiana close to New Orleans but in a decidedly rural area. I do know some people there and have relatives there but I am in an interracial relationship and am worried about possible problems. Is there anyone out there who has left a metropolitan city to move to a smaller town like this? Was it difficult? Tell me some possible pitfalls.
